Give Rhenz The Chance To Live A Full Life And Allow Him To Have His HEart Surgery!

In the quiet, humble abode of the Abueva family, where love knows no bounds, a mother's heart aches silently for her beloved son. My name is Darlyn Abueva, and this is our story—a testament to a mother's relentless fight against the shadows of despair, holding onto a glimmer of hope for my son, Rhenz Darel.

Rhenz, at the tender age of six, carries a burden no child should bear. His laughter, pure and innocent, often masks the pain he endures daily. Last year, our lives took a daunting turn when Rhenz began experiencing difficulty in breathing and unexplainable body weakness. Witnessing your child gasp for air, with a look of helplessness in his eyes, is a torture no parent should ever experience. My instincts screamed that something was gravely wrong, and thus began our journey to seek answers.
After numerous visits to the doctor, Rhenz was diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease - Ventricular Septal Defect, a condition that was a stranger to our family but quickly became a constant shadow in our lives. The diagnosis was a blow, shattering the normalcy of our daily existence. Rhenz underwent a series of rigorous laboratory tests and was referred to a heart specialist who painted a picture of our new reality. My son was put on medication as maintenance for his heart condition, and every month, we embarked on the journey to the hospital for his check-ups, each visit a stark reminder of the battle we are fighting.
Our family's financial backbone is modest, with me working as a housekeeper and my husband standing guard as a security officer. The medication and medical expenses for Rhenz's condition are a mountain we climb daily, its peak shrouded in the clouds of uncertainty. The cost is a heavy chain around our necks, threatening to drown us in despair.

The path to Rhenz's surgery is fraught with financial hurdles that seem insurmountable. Yet, it is a journey we must embark on to give Rhenz a fighting chance at a normal life, a life where he can run and play without fear of his heart failing him. This surgery is not just a medical procedure; it is the key to unlocking a future for Rhenz, a future filled with possibilities, dreams, and laughter not shadowed by the specter of illness.
Today, I reach out to you, heart in hand, pleading for your generosity to help us gather the funds for Rhenz's heart surgery. Your kindness can lighten our burden, turning our tears of despair into tears of gratitude. Every donation, no matter the size, brings Rhenz a step closer to a life where he can thrive, not just survive.

Let us come together to weave a tapestry of hope for Rhenz, a brave little warrior fighting a battle no child should face. With your support, we can provide Rhenz with the gift of a healthier future, a testament to the strength of community and the power of compassion.

In this moment of need, I humbly ask for your help to save my son's heart. Let's give Rhenz the chance to live a full life, to explore the world with the curiosity and wonder that every child deserves. Together, we can ensure that Rhenz's heartbeat, strong and sure, continues to echo the melodies of a future filled with promise and joy.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and your willingness to stand with us in this fight. Together, we can make a difference in Rhenz's life. Together, we can give him a future.

All funds raised will be managed by Give.asia and pay directly to the hospital.

With gratitude and hope,
Darlyn Abueva

What Is Ventricular Septal Defect?
A ventricular septal defect (VSD) happens during pregnancy if the wall that forms between the two ventricles does not fully develop. This leaves a hole. In babies without a heart defect, the right side of the heart pumps oxygen-poor blood from the heart to the lungs. The left side of the heart pumps oxygen-rich blood to the rest of the body. In babies with a VSD, blood flows from the left ventricle through the VSD to the right ventricle and into the lungs.

PROBABILITY
About 42 of every 10,000 babies in the United States are born with a VSD.

TREATMENT
Depending on the size of the hole, symptoms, and general health of the child, the doctor might recommend either cardiac catheterization or open-heart surgery. These procedures will close the hole and restore normal blood flow. After surgery, the doctor will set up regular follow-up visits to make sure that the VSD remains closed.
