Madam Murliati live with her son, a Singapore citizen, for many year in Singapore on Long Term Visit Pass and she's originally from Indonesia. She was admitted to hospital due to accident at home which resulted in long hospitalisation from 30 Dec 2021 to 19 Feb 2022.
She injured her right leg and subsequently diagnosed with compartment syndrome which was operated many times in order to release the pressure to the leg and remove muscle tissues.
Her injury causes many complications such as her kidney, which shut down that require kidney dialysis in hospital and internal bleeding. Fortunately her kidney function is back to normal after the treatments.

Despite many operations performed on her, the doctors were unable to save her injured right leg and this resulted in above the knee amputation.
After the stormy episodes in hospital, Madam Murliati was finally discharged on the 19th Feb 2022. Due to her age (84 years old) and her disability, she need long term home care and follow up medical appointments.
In addition to that, her medical bill is so huge, as she does not qualified for subsidies because she is consider as foreigner and she does not has any medical insurance.
The family is unable to afford the medical bill as her son is the only breadwinner and financially not well and has 2 young children that still need long term financial support.

The family has exhausted various ways to obtain financial help to reduce the medical bill, but all were unsuccessful. The family has informed the doctor in charge during her stay in hospital that the family is not financially well to do, but necessary tests and procedures are still performed and this has contributed to significant increase of medical bill.
In addition, the family has approach the local MP for assistance, however there's limited that is done.
