The 24 Hour Race is the largest youth led movement in South East Asia that raises money for trafficking victims and aims to help end modern slavery. Run by youth, for youth, the 24 Hour Race was founded in 2010 and has raised more than HKD$ 6.5 million for grassroots anti-human trafficking charities since then.
The Blue Dragon foundation focuses on rescuing children who have been trafficked. Once these children are rescued, Blue Dragon helps with rehabilitation by providing psychological help, opportunities for education, and long term support. It offers a myriad of programs to help children in the Vietnam community who need support to lead better quality lives, out of poverty and away from human trafficking and child labour. These programs include education, counselling, providing food and shelter, as well as long term support to help children reintegrate into society after having been trafficked. Since 2003, Blue Dragon has helped 68,000 children in Vietnam.
HOME is a local charity that helps migrants who have been mistreated by their employers. Singapore has a large migrant population, and HOME supports these workers by raising awareness about migrant workers’ rights, offering legal aid and supporting those who are working in unsuitable conditions. HOME does valuable work in supporting migrants and influenced the integration of law in Singapore to allow domestic workers to take Sunday off.
On November 19th-20th, runners from local and international schools all over Singapore will come together to participate in an exciting but challenging endurance race. Working together in teams, students will run the 24 Hour Race in relay-style. Prior to the day of the run, students raise awareness of modern day slavery in their communities and encourage people to donate to an important cause.
100% of the funds raised will go to anti-slavery programs.
