The Australian International School of Hong Kong (AISHK) is participating in the 24 Hour Race (Running to Stop Traffik) on the 19th - 20th November, 2016. AISHK is participating in this event to help raise awareness and stand against the issue of human trafficking. You may ask yourself the following questions such as:
What is human trafficking?
Where does it occur?
How is it affecting people?
Luckily for you we have the answers. Human trafficking is defined to be "the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring, or receipt of persons by improper means (such as force, abduction, fraud, or coercion) for an improper purpose including forced labor or sexual exploitation". (National Institute of Justice) The issue of human trafficking occurs all over the world, in fact every country has their own issues with the matter whether it is the country of origin, transit or destination for victims of this heinous crime and violation of human rights. Human trafficking affects millions of people each year and robs them of their own dignity. It is the deception of women, men and children from all areas of the world, that exploits them to horrific situations. Human trafficking affects people. It takes them away from their home, their friends and their family.
Imagine, if you were in a situation, where you were being forced to leave everything you know, everyone you know and their wasn't anything you could do to stop it. Your life was being traded for one of forced labour, domestic servitude, child begging or in some cases removal of organs.
But there is something you can do to help make a change.

Then help our cause and donate to stand against human trafficking.
